Field prospecting for a site for a radio telescope at Madeira - Annual Report

We review and present the results from the activities worked on the project during 2003 and show the plan for 2004. The main objective of the project is undergoing: measuring the weather at one of the sites (F/G was chosen) for, at least, one year. Such measurements started on 29th October 2003. At the same time, we have done some preliminary analisys of the weather at site F/G and also a radio interference discussion for all sites. Finally, for 2004 we plan to: i) conclude the year of weather information for site F/G (drawing the correlation-extrapolation-model from observations at other sites in the island with > 20 yrs of such data; ii) measure interference at the three sites; iii) measure the horizon profiles at the three sites.
