SHORT BIO Corrado Andini received the M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Barcelona Pompeu Fabra and the Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rome La Sapienza. His doctoral thesis on the welfare reforms occurred in the United States during the 1990s has been awarded the Fausto Vicarelli Prize for the best Italian dissertation in 2005 by the Ente Luigi Einuadi. He taught at the University of Barcelona Pompeu Fabra and did research on education and wage inequality in Europe within the EDWIN project, funded by the European Commission. From April 2006 to April 2009, he has been Pro-Rector of the University of Madeira. Since October 2007, he is Director of the M.Sc. in Economics. His research interests lie in the field of applied econometrics. Particularly, he is interested in applications of econometric techniques to concrete issues in labour economics and industrial organization. In addition, he has a genuine interest for some topics in history of economic analysis. Currently, he is a member of both the Centre of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic (CEEAplA) and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA).
