SHORT BIO

Corrado Andini received the M.Sc. in Economics from the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and the Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rome La Sapienza. His doctoral thesis on the welfare reforms occurred in the United States during the 1990s has been awarded the Fausto Vicarelli Prize for the best Italian dissertation in 2005 by the Luigi Einuadi Foundation in Rome.

He taught at the University Pompeu Fabra and did research on education and wage inequality in Europe within the EDWIN project, funded by the European Commission. From April 2006 to April 2009, he has been Pro-Rector of the University of Madeira. At the same institution, since October 2007, he is Director of the M.Sc. in Economics.

His research activities cover topics of labour economics, macroeconomics, empirical industrial organization and history of economic thought. His papers have been published in several peer-reviewed journals including Applied Economics, Portuguese Economic Journal, Applied Economics Letters, Economics Bulletin, International Review of Applied Economics, Forum for Social Economics, Telecommunications Policy, and Empirical Economics. 

Currently, he is a member of both the Centre of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic (CEEAplA) and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA).
