The University of Madeira created in 2003 a Research and Development Centre in Education - CIE-UMa (by Regulation Nº 41/2003, published on Diário da República - II Series, nº 194, of 23rd August 2003), specially dedicated to scientific research in the area of Education and to the development of the community; these missions are carried out through the development of projects of research.
